This Summer Pete barbequed 2-3 times a week and served it as a special on the luncheon menu, and it was a big success. Tara who was cooking for Pete 2-3 times a week move to Tennesee. For the time being Pete is doing all the cooking. There are always new faces coming in which some of them turn out to be regulars. Also stopping in was Nick Russo, one of the great local entertainers who started out in the 60′s with Jeff and the Notes as a drummer. (Which he received the Gene Krupa award) Then becoming a vocalist he sang with Many local groups. A few of the guys are talking about getting together to have a jam session and possibly a car show this summer at the diner. Hopefully it will work out. If you have any questions,or if you have anything to share in the newsletter please drop me an e-mail.Thanks.

Hi to all,Well after the interview with the newspaper which Jeff Bishop did a great job of telling the story of how a lot of Syracuse’s finest singers and musicians come and socialize at the diner. Jeff,a long time resident of Syracuse, and friend to many has a great get together on Thursday nights in which some of the past north side and eastwood guys and girls attend. If you wnat to stop down to the diner,or give me an e-mail and I will tell you how to get a hold of Jeff. You notice I am starting to add more and more pictures in the gallery. Once again if you have any you might want to add please bring them in.

We would like to start off by mentioning the menu of the Rise and Shine Diner.Pete offers you a variety of luncheon and breakfast specials daily. Also, for breakfast you are able to create your own omelet. Pete also offers 2 different types of soups during lunch time. You will often hear people as they are leaving speaking about how generous the portions were.We have posted a menu of Pete’s diner, but prices will vary.As you walk into the diner to your left you will see a free play jukebox, which has many of the early local entertainers music on it. As you gaze around the diner you will see the walls covered with early photographs of Syracuse’s great entertainers.People who are visiting the diner for the first time are impressed by all of the memorabilia. In the near future we will be posting some of the photos of the entertainers who have come to the diner and some of the great stories they shared.Remember Syracuse has always had and still has great entertainment. Thanks to Pete we have a very comfortable place to gather and share great memories. Please stay in touch for the next newsletter.

One of the main reasons members from the 50′s and 60′s bands & vocal groups are gathering at the Rise and Shine Diner is because of Chuck Sgroi. Over the past 50 years Chuck has entertained us and gained his respect andmany friendships with local entertainers. Chuck was quick to get on the phone and tell many people about the diner which has made it possible to walk in anytime and see 5 or more of the legendary local entertainers reminiscing. Thanks to Chuck, Mark Bialczak of the Post Standard came down to the diner and wrote a very nice article in the paper about the theme of the diner and the entertainers that frequent the Rise and Shine Diner.
